If director Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits) was to resurrect the 1986 TriStar Pictures rom-com About Last Night, why not guide Sandra Bullock through Columbia Pictures' twenty-first century re-imagining of its 1982 John Huston-directed big-event feature film cult favorite Annie? Will Smith and James Lassiter are stepping in the shoes filled by Albert Finney and producer Ray Stark - proving Huston's legacy lives on as expected. However, Screen Gems, Columbia's sister studio under the umbrella of Sony Pictures Entertainment, has slated About Last Night, directed by Gluck in place of Edward Zwick, for release on Feb. 14, 2014, so that he is expected to do double duty on The Michael J. Fox Show, a new SPE-produced sitcom starring
Fox himself hitting the NBC airwaves this fall, and principal photography on Annie later this year. I promise!
